GFL Board of Directors

Commissioner: RICK STAROSTA – 262-237-2006 – Kenoshavikings2002@yahoo.com

Duties: Founder/GFL Commission/American Conference Commissioner/Kenosha Saber Owner/GFL Scheduling

Rick started the Gridiron Football League in the fall of 2006. It was a wild idea to take the best of 11 man Semi-pro football and turn it into a respectable league. He comes to the league with a bag full of experience and knowledge. He played 4 years of varsity football at Waukegan High School and then played at Northeastern University where he lettered his sophomore to senior years. His senior year he had 49 catches and 7 touchdowns.

Rick had tryouts with the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, and the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL. After his tryouts he returned to semi pro football and started the Lake County-Kenosha Vikings. The Vikings won 3 League Trophies.

In the fall of 2006 he dismantled the Vikings and turned it into 4 teams. This was the start of 6 week experiment with 6 man football. It was hit over night and the 8 Man Football League was born. After 4 years the league is strong and eager to spread its wings with new teams and Stadiums.

Co-Commissioner: ERIC DANIEL – 262-412-0669 - edaniel333@gmail.com

Duties: GFL CFO/National Conference Commissioner/Web Master/Promotions/Kenosha Cougars Owner

Eric is one of the original owners and players from the first year of the league in 2007. As the owner of the Zion-Kenosha Cougars, his first year team won the league’s very first championship.

Eric, a Zion Benton High School football product, was also a former US Marine who served his country proudly. After Military service, Eric found himself back in the Kenosha-Lake County area concentrating on his career as a sales manager and the start of his family.  It was then that he got back into the game that he loved, playing flag football until hearing about this new semi-pro league that Rick Starosta was starting.  To broaden his knowledge of semi-pro he played on the North Illinois Cowboys for two years, as well, before concentrating solely on the Cougars. The values and uniqueness of the league caught his interest to get even more involved, than just a team owner, and utilized his strong background in business to help promote and run the league under Rick.
